5G frequency range and band

The 3GPP definition of the 5G frequency band is in the TS 38.104 "NR; Base Station Wireless Transmission and Reception" specification. This specification determines the minimum radio frequency characteristics and minimum performance requirements of 5G NR base stations (also available from TS 38.101-1 and TS 38.101 -2 Obtain 5G frequency band information).

According to the TS 38.104 specification V15.0.0 version released in December 2017, the frequency range of 5G NR is defined as different FRs: FR1 and FR2. The frequency range FR1 is commonly referred to as the 5G Sub-6GHz (below 6GHz) frequency band, and the frequency range FR2 is the 5G millimeter wave frequency band.

As we all know, TDD and FDD are two major duplex systems in mobile communication systems. In 4G, different frequency bands are allocated for FDD and TDD. In 5G NR, different frequency bands are also allocated for FDD and TDD, and new SDL (Supplementary Downlink) and SUL (Supplementary Uplink) frequency bands are also introduced.

The frequency band number of 5G NR starts with "n", which is different from the frequency band number of LTE starting with "B". The current 5G NR frequency bands designated by 3GPP are as follows:
